David Burliuk, Ukrainian American, 1882 to 1967, oil painting on canvas on board, depicting a still life with flowers in a vase. Signed lower right. Circa 1940. Bears several paper labels on the back side. Framed. David Davidovich Burliuk was a poet, artist and publicist associated with the Futurist and Neo-Primitivist movements. Burliuk has been described as the father of Russian Futurism. Provenance: Estate of Giovanni and Dagmar Migliuolo, NYC. Giovanni Migliuolo is the former Italian Ambassador to the United Nations, USSR, and Egypt. The present owner acquired it from David Killen Gallery, New York.
