The obverse depicts the monograms of Emperors Nicholas I and Alexander II, topped with imperial crowns and overshadowed by the rays of the all seeing eye located above them. Below the monograms, along the border of the medal, are the dates: 1853 to 1854 to 1855 to 1856. On the reverse is a horizontal inscription in five lines.
