An antique French carved gilt wood framed mirror. Circa 19th century. The frame is made of carved gilt wood and gesso, finished with genuine gold leaf. The most distinct feature is the elaborate top piece. It features a central floral urn flanked by two putti. The composition is unified by flowing acanthus leaves. The tall, rectangular mirror plate is surrounded by a frame decorated with a leaf motif along the edge. The reverse is paper-backed and equipped with a wire for wall mounting.
