An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon depicts a central Deesis composition, featuring Christ Enthroned flanked by the Virgin Mary and Saint John the Baptist in intercession. Rendered in egg tempera on a wooden panel with a gilded background, the work includes two finely detailed marginal saints on the vertical borders. The icon is housed in a custom-carved wooden kiot with a protective glass front and a decorative arched pediment. The reverse of the case retains its original dark finish and a metal hanging loop.
