Lot 0329: SIGNED & INSCRIBED PIERO DORAZIO EXHIBITION CATALOGUE
Piero Dorazio (1927–2005) was a leading figure in post-war Italian abstraction, known for luminous grid compositions and colour-driven structures that linked European modernism with American abstract movements. This softcover exhibition catalogue, published by Associazione Piazza Maggiore, Todi, is illustrated in black and white and includes critical texts with an essay by Giuseppe Ungaretti. The catalogue is signed and inscribed in blue ink: “Greetings! from Piero Dorazio in Todi 7.10.1977.” It documents Dorazio’s work from the immediate post-war years to the mid-1970s, including Composizione samotracia (1949), and provides important context for his role in European abstraction. The later dated inscription suggests it was signed in person, increasing its desirability as artist-signed ephemera.
