A Chinese carved lacquer-style vase of baluster form, decorated in relief with scrolling floral motifs, likely peonies, on a deep red ground with geometric diaper patterning. Dark lacquered areas highlight the carving, with a flared neck and stepped foot. The interior is finished in vivid cobalt blue, with brass mounts to the mouth and base providing contrast. Likely mid–late 20th century export production, inspired by traditional Chinese cinnabar lacquer designs.
