A substantial Ancient Near Eastern carved agate domed stamp seal, dating to the Sasanian Empire (circa 3rd–7th Century AD). Carved from a handsome, thick piece of banded caramel and white agate, the hemispherical matrix is pierced horizontally with a transverse suspension hole for wearing. The flat face features a crisp wheel-cut intaglio carving of a stylized bird in profile, surmounted by a distinct geometric monogram or tamga (a personal or familial emblem). A classic and well-detailed example of late antique Persian lapidary work.
