The exterior is embellished with ornate gilt silver mounts, notably a continuous floral garland swag set with small rubies and diamonds. A detailed finial depicting two birds surmounts the lid, which is further accented by a gemstone set border and a red enameled base. Marked with a Russian Silver standard hallmark, and makers marks.
