Vladimir Grigorovich, Russian, American, 1939 to 2023, an oil painting on canvas, Pomegranate Morning, 1983. Signed, titled, and dated, on the backside. Vladimir Grigorovich graduated from the Graphic Arts Department of the V. P. Potemkin Moscow City Pedagogical Institute. He collaborated with leading Soviet publishing houses, participated in numerous Moscow and All Union exhibitions, and in 1967 his work was presented at the World Exhibition in Montreal. His works are held in private collections throughout Russia, Europe, and the United States. With its powder pink chest, pale blue wall, and two opened pomegranates, Pomegranate Morning transforms an ordinary interior into a quiet meditation on intimacy, memory, and abundance. The painting served as the signature image for Unclaimed Presence at the MORA Museum of International Art in 2026 a two artist project presenting the work of Vladimir Grigorovich in dialogue with contemporary artist Lana Malakhoff. Its restrained composition and luminous, timeworn palette lend the domestic scene a dreamlike, suspended presence.
