Antique Indonesian bed/daybed: consisting of a rectangular base, two side panels, back panel with two small corner treasure cabinets with hinged doors, canopy top with beamed ceiling resting on our posters and a front panel applied with seven panels and carved wooden tassels; all intricately carved, stained with black and red pigments, richly gilded; intricately carved hunting scenes, mythological subjects and floral and foliate vines; upper section of the back panel features a pair of spectacular dragons in heraldic positions topped with pediment beautifully carved with mythological beasts, all richly gilded. Large apron on the front is framed on both sides by imposing supports carved with coiling crowned dragons and centered with a firebird in flight, exotic birds, scaled sea creatures and profusion of floral motifs. The grand luxurious bed is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece capable of adding a new level of sophistication to a bedroom, grand formal salon or a garden pavilion. This showstopper piece of furniture can function as a bed, a daybed or as a spacious recliner once adorned with profusion of silk pillows and luxurious throws.
