The Star Trek Commemorative Chess Set was produced by The Franklin Mint for Star Treks 25th anniversary in 1991. It was a standard chess set with Star Trek: the original series themed pieces. The pieces were produced in pewter, plated in either 24-karat gold or sterling silver and placed on crystal hexagonal bases. The board doubled as the storage case for the pieces. Marked with an impressed stamp, 25th Anniversary Edition, and copyright 1989 Paramount Pictures. Marked with paper labels, Crafted in Malaysia and Made in China.
